Vision & Projects

The Renewing the Promise campaign is not simply an effort to transform physical spaces. Each renovation project is rooted in our call to restore lives.
Investing in the Future

What began as an effort to educate vulnerable children with no church home became a vibrant community for all generations. The gospel-dream began in a storefront, moved to Peachtree Road, and relocated to our current address at Roswell Road in the 1950s. Our history as a church reminds us that Peachtree Church is so much more than a location or a building, but a movement of God’s people to share and demonstrate God’s goodness.

Today when we come to our current campus, it is all too easy to take for granted the prayers, service, and generosity that have developed the ministries and buildings of Peachtree Church. Long before most of us arrived on the scene, disciples of Jesus fulfilled the church’s mission by investing in the next generation. Our time has come to pick up where they left off.

Our location and campus are enormous resources for ministry, but many areas of the church have aged to the point of diminished effectiveness. With each passing year it becomes more difficult to deliver on our gospel dreams with the facility as it is. God has entrusted this gift of a campus not only to use now but also to steward for future generations.

Family Commons

Many who visit Peachtree for the first time come at the moment when they start their family. We are missing an opportunity to share a message about how much we cherish families by not giving a better first impression in our Family Commons, Peachtree’s front door for families. At the heart of this campaign is a commitment to reach the next generation, which will be reflected in an updated space that makes families feel welcomed and prioritized.

Family Commons will receive an update to the decor and the central desk will be removed, creating a much better first impression for parents and children. No structural changes will be made in Family Commons.

West Lobby

The West Lobby will become a main entry point for guests to the church coming to meet with pastors and staff. This space will receive a complete update to paint, furniture, and ceiling. In addition, a new freight elevator and direct access to the tunnel under Roswell Road will be added and created.

Fellowship Hall

Building a strong foundation for faith will always be a priority at Peachtree. This commitment to equipping believers to live a deep and thoughtful faith is best realized through flexible, updated spaces that can host groups and classes of nearly any size. A refreshed Fellowship Hall will include an option to divide the room as needed for medium-to-large sized groups.

Williams Center (Coffee Bar)

Gathering places are crucial for fostering a sense of fellowship and community. By expanding our beautiful Williams Center to include additional soft seating and a coffee bar, our hope is to invite a greater sense of belonging that strengthens relationships.

Children’s Spaces

Fourth and fifth graders are growing up faster than ever in today’s culture. Due to this, it is no longer effective to group them in with the younger elementary children. We will be repurposing the space that currently houses the library and opening that up to become a new space that is large enough for our fourth and fifth graders to meet together.

(An updated children’s library will be located at the top of stairs, shown at position “I” on the second floor map.)

In addition to the new space for fourth and fifth graders, other children’s spaces will be updated and refreshed through the Renewing the Promise campaign.

Belong Classrooms (Adults)

In keeping with our commitment to equip believers to live out a growing faith, the classrooms used for adult learning will be updated. The areas shown in dark blue on the second floor map will all be outfitted with up-to-date technology.

(Virtual tour video for the Belong Classrooms is a part of the video linked below that also shares about the new Ministry Staff Offices.)

St. Andrews Room

Another space on our campus that is under-utilized because of the need for a refresh is the St. Andrews Room. Located immediately adjacent to the Fellowship Hall, the St. Andrews Room will receive an update that includes new paint, lighting fixtures, furniture, and glass walls to make the space feel more open and inviting.

Library

We will have the opportunity to bring the Harrington Library and the adult collection from our library together in adjacent locations. These two libraries will flow in to the new Williams Center coffee bar and soft seating area—perfect for enjoying a good book and a cup of coffee.

Children’s Library

At the top of the stairs above the Family Commons, we are adding a new Children’s Library. This space will create the perfect location to meet families at the church while also providing a wonderful atmosphere for parents and children to connect and learn.

Sanctuary & Ascension Window

Our Sanctuary is beloved to us. In the 1950’s, it was designed and built to reflect the intentional simplicity of Colonial Reformed Presbyterian architecture. In the 1980’s, it was expanded to seat as many people as possible, adding transepts and balconies and with it, new challenges affecting line-of-sight, audio-visual, and acoustics.

This renovation will return the room to the simplicity of its original design, retaining its sacredness, increasing its sense of space, and providing a more consistent experience of worship throughout the room.

Our beautiful Ascension Window will remain the prominent focal point of our updated Sanctuary behind the Chancel Choir loft, all of which will be moved closer into the room.

Wilson Chapel

Wilson Chapel is overdue for a renovation, making it a space that is currently under-utilized for memorials and weddings. Updates will include a raised ceiling, refreshed carpet and painting, and a new stained-glass feature, made by the same artisan who created our Ascension Window in the Sanctuary.

Outdoor Green Space

Gathering places are crucial for fostering a sense of fellowship and community. The addition of a central outdoor green space will give us a beautiful new front lawn, allowing us to host gatherings and celebrations outdoors.

(To learn more, watch the virtual tour video for the Williams Center.)

Staff Offices

Currently, ministry staff offices can be found in nine different locations around campus. Not only that, but the configuration of these spaces does not take advantage of current best practices for creating effective spaces for staff to work and collaborate most effectively.

The new staff office space will be a two-story section of the building with a large open area in the middle designed to create space for enhanced collaboration as well as individual focus. The offices and conference rooms around the outsides of these floors will provide alternative areas for work and ministry.

Student Spaces

Summit Room & Second Floor

The Lodge is a popular gathering place for our church during the week and for our students on Sundays.  While the Summit Room will remain largely the same, updates to offices and gathering spaces on the second floor of the Lodge will be designed and optimized for Student Ministry events.

The downstairs Lodge cafe will receive fresh paint and new decor.
